About the artist and the artworks-

Joy was born in Portland Victoria. always loved sketching anything, especially after realising things had detail. Eyesight was a blur until the age of ten, being extremely short sighted, acquired spectacles. Shortly after this time she entered a Victoria wide competition (1955) (Peters Pals) and won first prize, at that time living at Gorae, near her present home at Bolwarra, just outside Portland.

It was not until adulthood in 1999 that another competition was entered into again.

When taking a T.A.F.E. Art course in Portland in1997, a gift was realised and acknowledged which had not been encouraged before.

Work and further adult education in other fields have taken priority at times but Joy still enjoys participating in art groups.

Lots of encouragement is forthcoming from fellow artists and many gifted teachers such as Heather Rowsell and Charlotte Davis and Sheila Swain, Kevin A.Taylor.

Also The Bolwarra group( Palette Group) of artists have been most helpful for inspiration and technique and critique, we are like a family working together.
